Good sleep habits are essential for living a long, healthy, productive life. Adequate amounts of sleep has been seen to be equally important for beautiful, healthy skin. Sleep allows the skin to restore its natural balance and increases the effectiveness of certain skin care ingredients, potentially providing more benefit to your skin.
According to a clinical trial, researchers found that those who didn’t get enough shut eye were at an increased risk for premature skin aging.
The demonstration supports that poor sleepers showed increased signs of skin aging and slower recovery from a variety of environmental stressors, such as disruption of the skin barrier or ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
The study is the first to conclusively demonstrate that inadequate sleep is correlated with reduced skin health and acceleration of skin aging. While chronic sleep deprivation has been linked to medical problems such as obesity, diabetes, cancer and immune deficiency, its effects on skin function have previously been unknown.
